Patuloy man ang pagbaba ng average number sa kasalukuyang surge ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sa Metro Manila, nananatili pa rin ito sa “very high” level sa ngayon, ayon sa ulat nitong Lunes, Setyembre 20 ng independent research group, OCTA.
May average 5,136 cases noong Setyembre 13-19, bumaba ng hanggang 13 percent mukla sa 5,916 cases mula Setyembre 6-12.
“The reproduction number in the NCR (National Capital Region) decreased to 1.14, from 1.37 just a week ago, moving it closer to 1,” sabi ng OCTA.
Lumalabas na ang seven-day positivity rate ng sa rehiyon ay bumaba ng hanggang 23 percent mula sa dating 25 percent.

Habang may mga indikasyon na umabot na sa peka ang COVID-19 sa Metro Manila, pinunto ng OCTA na “ kailangang sustinido ang pagbaba ng kaso bago ito masiguro.”
“While the changes in the reproduction number and growth rate indicate an improving trend, it must be emphasized that the surge in the NCR is still at a very high level, as indicated by an incidence rate (ADAR) of 36.77 per 100,000 per day, which is considered critical per Covid Act Now guidelines developed with Harvard Health Institute,” sabi ng OCTA.
Dagdag nito, maaari pa ring magtala ng 4,000 cases bawat araw ang Metro Manila sa pagtatapos ng Setyembre at higit 2,000 cases bawat araw sa pagtatapos ng Oktubre.
“This means the healthcare system in the NCR, which currently has 69 percent utilization for hospital beds and 77 percent utilization for ICUs [intensive care units] per DOH, will likely continue to be at or close to staffing capacity until October,” sabi ng OCTA.
“There may still be spikes in new cases in the NCR over the next week due to some reporting backlog, but unless the trends change, the daily average in new cases in the NCR should continue to decrease,” dagdag nito.
Binantayan ng OCTA ang pitong lungsod sa Maynila na nakapagrehistro ng moderate reproduction numbers.
Mayroong 0.88 reproduction number ang Malabon na maituturing na “low.”
Samantala, moderate level naman ang reproduction numbers sa pagitan ng 0.9 at 1.1 ang mga lungsod ng Navotas, Muntinlupa, Manila, Caloocan, Valenzuela at Pateros.
Sa labas ng Metro Manila, naitala ang “negative one-week growth rates” ay naitala sa mga lalawigan ng Cavite, Laguna at Bulacan.
“The key now is to sustain our efforts in order to continue to bring new cases in the NCR and other areas down,”sabi ng OCTA.
