Bahagyang humina ang Bagyong Jolina sa kategoryang “severe tropical storm” habang binabagtas ang kalupaan ng Masbate, ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) nitong hapon ng Martes, Setyembre 7.
Huling namataan ang bagyo sa Baleno, Masbate pasado ala-una ng hapon.
Sa 2 p.m. bulletin ng PAGASA, bahagyang humina ang bagyo. Gayunpaman, nasa 110 kilometers per hour (kph) pa rin ang lakas nito at may bugsong aabot sa 135 kph.
Nakataas pa rin ang Signal No. 2 sa Masbate kabilang ang Ticao at Burias Islands, northern portion of Romblon, Sorsogon, Albay, western and southern portions of Camarines Sur, western portion of Camarines Norte, central and southern portions of Quezon, Laguna, southeastern portion of Batangas, Marinduque, western portion of Northern Samar, extreme northwestern portion of Samar, at northern portion of Biliran.
Samantala, Signal No. 1 ang Metro Manila, natitirang bahagi ng Camarines Norte, natitirang bahagi ng Camarines Sur, natitirang bahagi ng Albay, Catanduanes, natitirang bahagi ng Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, natitirang bahagi ng Quezon, Rizal, natitirang bahagi ng Batangas, Cavite, Bulacan, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, southern portion of Aurora, southern portion of Quirino, southeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya, southern portion of Pangasinan, natitirang bahagi ng Northern Samar, northern and central portions of Samar, northern portion of Eastern Samar, natitirang bahagi ng Biliran, northern portion of Leyte, northern portion of Cebu, northern portion Negros Occidental, northern portion of Iloilo, Capiz, at Aklan.
Sa paghina ng Bagyong Jolina, maaari pa rin itong magdala ng malalakas na pag-ulan sa Masbate, Leyte, Biliran, Samar, Northern Samar, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines provinces, Southern Quezon, Romblon, and Marinduque sa susunod na 24 oras.
Samantala, moderate, heavy hanggang intense rainfall naman ang maaaring asahan sa Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, natitirang bahagi Quezon, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, at Rizal.
“Under these conditions, scattered to widespread flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides are possible especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps,”pagbababala ng PAGASA.
“In the next 24 hours, the threat of coastal inundation due to storm surge up to 0.5-1.0 m (meter) continues for several coastal localities of Biliran, Sorsogon, Samar, and Masbate,”dagdag ng PAGASA.
Sa susunod na 12 oras, maaaring tumbukin ni Jolina ang west-northwest, partikular na ang bahagi ng Masbate at Ragay Gulf, ayon sa PAGASA.
Dagdag ng weather agency, maari pa rin itong muling mag-landfall sa southeastern Quezon sa pagitan ng gabi ng Martes at umaga ng Miyerkules, Setyembre 8.
Sunod na tatahakin ni Jolina ang Central Luzon, sa silangan at hilagang bahagi ng Metro Manila.
“Frictional effects” while crossing the Luzon landmass will likely lead to the weakening of the cyclone to tropical storm category,” dagdag ng PAGASA.
“Jolina is forecast to emerge over the West Philippine Sea before noon on Thursday. Re-intensification is forecast to occur beginning Thursday afternoon as the tropical cyclone moves west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea towards the southern China-northern Vietnam area.”
