Binatikos ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang karumal-dumal na pagpaslang kay Ebeng Mayor, isang transgender na taga-Batasan Hills, Quezon Cty na naunang naiulat na nawawala sa loob ng tatlong araw bago matagpuan ang bangkay nito.

"The CHR, as the country’s Gender Ombud, denounces all forms of gender-based violence directed towards transgender and gender non-conforming people," ang bahagi ng pahayag ni CHR Spokesperson Jacqueline Ann de Guia.

Nadismaya si De Guia dahil nangyari ang karumal-dumal na krimen sa panahon kung saan ipinagdiriwang ng mga Pinoy ang International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

Isinisi nito ang krimen sa "hate crime" at "sexual violence" na kinakaharap ngayon ng mga miyembro ng Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community.

"The long-held stigma and discrimination against them in our culture deny transgender people the opportunity to live freely, to enjoy equal protection under the law, and to be recognized as full members of our society. This act of violence further underlines the urgent need to strengthen protections against gender non-conforming persons, address issues of access to justice, and strengthen the campaign against hate, stigma, and discrimination," pahayag pa nito.

Kaugnay nito, nanawagan ito sa pulisya na magsagawa ng masusing imbestigasyon kaugnay ng pagkakapaslang kay Mayor na pinaghihinalaang biktima ng panggagahasa.
