Kinasuhan si Chinese President Xi Jinping sa International Criminal Court (ICC) dahil sa umano’y “atrocious actions” nito sa South China Sea na maituturing na “crimes against humanity.”

Magkasama sina Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario at dating Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, sa pagsasampa ng kaso laban sa pangulo ng China.

Ang reklamong tinawag na “communication” ay inihain sa ICC, nitong Marso 15, 2019, dalawang araw bago ang pagtiwalag ng Pilipinas bilang State Party to the Rome Statute.

Katwiran nina Del Rosario at Morales, iniharap nila ang reklamo sa ngalan ng mga Pinoy at daan-daang libong mangingisdang Pinoy na  “hina-harass at sinasaktan” ng mga Chinese Coast Guard nanakop sa bahagi ng West Philippine Sea.

“The situation is both unique and relevant because it presents one of the most massive, near permanent and devastating destruction of the environment in humanity’s history. It adversely affects and injures not only myriad groups of vulnerable fishermen, including 320,000 Filipino fishermen, but also present and future generations of people across nations. This has seriously undermined the food and energy security of the coastal States in the South China Sea, including the Philippines,” ayon sa pahayag nina Del Rosario at Morales.

“Though widely publicized, these atrociously inhumane actions of Chinese officials in the South China Sea and within Philippine territory remain unpunished, and it is only the ICC that can exact accountability on behalf of Filipinos and the international community, respecting the rule of law,” sabi pa ng dalawang dating opisyal ng Pilipinas.

Wala pang inilalabas na pahayag ang Department of Foreign Affairs kaugnay ng usapin.
