Nasungkit ng mga estudyanteng Pilipino ang overall champion sa international math contest sa India para ipinid ang isang taon ng nakamamanghang performance.

Napanalunan ng Pinoy math wizards ang 23 gold, 6 silver at 3 bronze medals sa 7th International Young Mathematicians’ Convention na ginanap mula Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 5 sa Lucknow, India, ayon sa delegasyon na pinamumunuan ni Dr. Isidro Aguilar ng Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG).

Sa individual contest, ang gold medallist ng bansa ay sina Al Patrick Castro, Makati Science High School; Maria Monica Manlises, St. Stephen’s High School; Madelyn Esther Cruz, Philippine Science High School-Main; Margaret Esther Cruz, Philippine Science High School-Main; Andres Rico Gonzales III, Colegio de San Juan de Letran; Eion Nikolai Chua, International School Manila; Sted Micah Cheng, Hope Christian High School; Alfonso Miguel Abella, Grace Christian College; Kirk Patrick Bamba, Mataas na Paaralang Neptali Gonzales; Miko Johnson Co, St. Stephen’s High School; Terence Brian Tsai, Chiang Kai Shek College; Xavier Jefferson Ray Go, Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; Jarrett Ian Lim, Philippine Academy of Sakya; Hans Markson Tan, St. Stephen’s High School; Grant Aaron King, Grace Christian College; Gerrick Spencer Limsiy, Grace Christian College; at Rafael Jose Santiago, Philippine Science High School-Main.

Silver medallist sina Paul Elvin Sim ng Jubilee Christian Academy, Phil Eldrige Sim ng Jubilee Christian Academy at Li Xuanye ng Xavier School, habang bronze medallist si Christine Joy Okubo ng Philippine Science High School-Main.

Nakuha ng India at Vietnam ang second at third overall, batay sa kabuuang medalya na napanalunan. Ang iba pang kalahok na bansa ay ang Bangladesh, Brazil Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates at United States.
