Sa botong 9-5-1 ng justices, pinayagan ng Supreme Court (SC) na maihimlay sa Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) si dating Pangulong Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Siyam na justice ang pumabor, lima ang kumontra at isa ang nag-inhibit sa pitong petisyon laban sa paglilibing kay Marcos sa LNMB sa Taguig City.

Dahil dito, naalis na ang status quo ante order (SQAO) na inisyu noong Agosto 23, at naging dahilan para mapigilan ng ilang buwan ang paglilibing.

May 15 araw ang petitioners para magsampa ng motion for reconsideration sa desisyon.

Habang naiiyak sa pagkadismaya ang oposisyon, nagbunyi naman ang pamilya at tagasuporta ni Marcos sa desisyon ng SC.

Sa desisyon ng majority, nakasaad na, “There is no clear constitutional or legal basis to hold that there was grave abuse of discretion amounting to lack or excess of jurisdiction which would justify the Court to interpose its authority to check and override an act entrusted to the judgment of another branch.

“At bar, President Duterte, through the public respondents acted within the bounds of law and jurisprudence.

Notwithstanding the call of human rights advocates, the Court must uphold what is legal and just. And that is not to deny Marcos his rightful place at the (Libingan ng mga Bayani) LNMB.

Nagpasalamat kay Digong

Para kay dating Senador Bongbong Marcos, itinaas umano ng SC ang rule of law.

“We also would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte as his unwavering commitment to this issue sustained us these past several months. Our family will forever be thankful for his kind gesture,” dagdag pa nito.

Maging si Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos ay hindi naitago ang galak.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Korte Suprema. Nagpapasalamat ako sa Maykapal at hindi niya kami nakalimutan,” ani Imee.
