LOS ANGELES (AP) – Iginiit ni Canelo Alvarez na nais niyang matuloy ang minimithing laban kay Gennady Golovkin, ngunit hindi niya nais na magaganap ito dahil sa pamimilit.
Para maibsan ang “pressure”, ipinahayag ng pamosong Mexican champion na binakante niya ang WBC middleweight title nitong Miyerkules (Huwebes sa Manila).
Itinakda ng pamunuan ng WBC na may hanggang Mayo 23 ang kampo nina Alvarez at Golovkin na mag-usap para sa duwelo na itinakda sa Setyembre, 17 sa AT&T Stadium sa Dallas, Texas.
“I will fight GGG and I will beat GGG, but I will not be forced into the ring,” pahayag ni Alvarez.
Olympian boxer Eumir Marcial, di nagpatalo kay Carlos Yulo, nag-crop top na rin!
“I am hopeful that by putting aside this ticking clock, the two teams can now negotiate this fight and GGG and I can get in the ring as soon as possible and give the fans the fight they want.”
Bunsod nito, awtomatikong nawala kay Golovkin ang “interim tag” para sa WBC title.
“Gennady Golovkin is hereby recognized as the undisputed WBC middleweight champion of the world,” sambit ni WNC president Mauricio Sulaiman.
“The WBC wishes Canelo Alvarez great success in his career and will certainly look forward to seeing Golovkin vs Alvarez materialize in the future.”
Inaabangan ng boxing fans sa buong mundo ang duwelo nina Alvarez (47-1-1, 33 knockout), at Golovkin (35-0, 32 knockout) nang kapwa magwagi sa kanilang huling mga laban.
