HUMAKOT ng walong tropeo ang pelikulang Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, kabilang ang Best Picture at Best Director, sa katatapos na Gabi ng Parangal ng Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) 31st Star Awards for Movies na ginanap sa The Theater of Solaire Hotel Resort and Casino, Parañaque, noong Linggo, ika-8 ng Marso.

Ang indie film na The Janitor ang namayani sa indie category, limang award ang naibuslo nito, kabilang din ang Indie Movie of the Year at Indie Movie Director of the Year.

Napanalunan ni Nora Aunor ang Best Actress award para sa Dementia, tie naman bilang Best Actor sina John Lloyd Cruz (The Trial) at Piolo Pascual (Starting Over Again). Sa Best Supporting Actress ay tie din sina Sylvia Sanchez at Gretchen Barretto, kapwa para sa pelikulang The Trial. Best Supporting Actor si Nicco Manalo para sa The Janitor.

Napagwagian naman ni Bimby Aquino Yap, ka-tie si Miggs Cuaderno, ang Best Child Performer award. Ang Best New Movie Actor & Actress award, nakuha naman nina Richard Yap at Sofia Andres.

Male & Female Face of the Night naman sina Iñigo Pascual at Kylie Padilla, Male & Female Star of the Night sina Julian Estrada at Sophia Andres. Si Vicky Morales ang tinanghal na Darling of the Press.

Ipinagkaloob kay Celia Rodriguez ang Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award, at naging madamdamin siya sa kanyang talumpati, samantalang ang Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award ay tinanggap ni direk Maryo J. delos Reyes.

Hosts ng 31st PMPC Star Awards for Movies sina Kim Chui, Xian Lim, Robi Domingo at Pops Fernandez.

Pinalakpakan ang napakahusay na pagkanta ng international singing sensation na si Charice. Umawit din sina Pilipinas Got Talent Season 3 Finalist Lucky Robles, Karaoke World Champions Lilibeth Garcia at JV Decena, at X Factor Phils and Macau International Jazz and Blues Festival Finalist Mark Mabesa. Hindi rin nagpahuli sina King & Queen of R&B Jay-R at Kyla, kasama ang Voice of the Philippines Top 4 na sina Jason Dy, Alisah Bonaobra, Leah Patricio at Rence Rapanot. Sa finale number naman ang madamdaming awitin ni Toni Gonzaga.

Ang 31st PMPC Star Awards for Movies ay blocktime production ng Airtime Marketing, Inc., sa pamumuno ni Tess Celestino-Howard, in cooperation with the PMPC the leadership of Mr. Joe Barrameda, current president and over-all chairman.

Mapapanood ang 31st PMPC Star Awards for Movies sa Marso 22, sa ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
