"Kailangan ba talaga may backer?"

"I graduated with a degree in Marine Transportation, dreaming of becoming a seafarer and helping my family out of poverty. But in the maritime world, it’s not just about skills; you need connections, or 'backers,' to get hired."

"I had no one to help me. For almost 5 years, I searched all over Manila for a company that would give me a chance, but everyone turned me down because I didn’t have a backer," bahagi ng post.

"My family is very poor. Back home, they were counting on me. I felt a huge responsibility as the only hope they had left. So, I stayed in Manila, struggling and feeling lost but still hoping that something would work out."

"After five years in Manila, my hope was fading. One day, I met a second engineer who had just moved into the same boarding house. He wasn’t a relative or a friend, but he decided to help me. He took me to his company and recommended me for a job."

"The company agreed to consider me, but I had to complete a lot of training. My family, desperate to help, borrowed money from anyone they could and sent it to me in Manila so I could finish the courses. I did everything they asked, hoping this was finally my chance."

"I started working as a utility cadet for the company. My job was to do all sorts of odd tasks: driving, grocery shopping, picking up visas, and even doing chores at the manager’s house. It wasn’t what I dreamed of, but I kept at it for 18 months, believing it would eventually lead to my dream of going onboard."

"But last week August 27, things fell apart. The company learned that my backer, the second engineer who had helped me, was being sent home from his ship and would no longer be with the company ( repatriated). My manager called me and told me to stop working immediately. Because my backer was gone, they said I wasn’t part of the company anymore."

"Just like that, I was back to square one. All my hard work, all those months of sacrifice, didn’t matter. I felt completely defeated and lost. I asked myself why life is so unfair, why everything always seems to go wrong just when things start to look up."

"Nanay, Tatay again, i Failed, we Failed."

"Sorry."

Sobrang damot magpasampa talagang pahihirapan muna nila."

"Keep fighting and praying, don't lose hope. Focus on your goal and trust in God – one day you will win this battle and have a company that fulfills your dreams. God bless you."

"Sad reality. I hope companies these days will accept and hire people according to the need and qualified applicants without any backers and all."

"I agree. Life is unfair. For some it could be full of rainbow colours but for some of us it's just a world full of dark cloudy skies. Relentless trials and indefinite struggles. Yet we don't have a choice but to endure it all."
