Sinuspindi ng Office of the Ombudsman ang 12 na opisyal at dating opisyal ng Department of Education (DepEd) at Procurement Service-Separtment of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) dahil sa umano'y overprice at "outdated" na mga laptops na binili ng ₱2.4 bilyon noong 2021.

Kabilang sa pinatawan ng suspensyon sina DepEd-Finance Undersecretary Analyn  Sevilla, Administration and Procurement Undersecretary Alain Del Pascua, Assistant Secretary of Administration and Procurement Salvador Malana III, Director IV of Information and Communications Technology Services Abram Y.C. Abanil, Executive Assistant IV Alec Ladanga, Director IV ng Procurement Management Service na si Marcelo Bragado, at Supervising Administrative Officer Selwyn  Briones.

Ang mga opisyal naman ng PS-DBM na sinuspindi ay sina dating Undersecretary Christopher Lao, Director IV Jasonmer Uayan, Procurement Management Officer IV Ulysses Mora, Procurement Management Officer I Marwan Amil, at Procurement Management Officer V Paul Armand.

"This office finds sufficient grounds to preventively suspend the abovementioned respondents considering that there is strong evidence showing their guilt.  The charges against them include Grave Misconduct, Serious Dishonesty, and Gross Neglect of Duty, which may warrant their removal from the service," ayon sa suspension order na may petsa na Agosto 23.

Sa reklamo, binanggit na bumili ang DepEd ng mga laptops sa tulong na rin ng PS-DBM, para sa mga pampublikong guro na nagkakahalaga ng ₱58,300 bawat isa kahit aabot lamang sa ₱35,046.50 ang inaprubahang badyet bawat isa.

Dahil sa umano'y overprice na mga laptop, hindi na nakabili ang DepEd ng mga laptop para sa 68,550 pang guro.

Matatandaang naglabas ng report ang Senate Blue Ribbon Committee kung saan nakapaloob na nagkaroon ng "irregularidad" sa pagbili ng bilyun-bilyong mga laptop para sana sa blended learning sa gitna ng pandemya ng coronavirus disease 2019.
