Ibinasura ng Timor Leste ang hiling ni suspended Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. para sa political asylum, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) nitong Martes ng gabi, Mayo 9.
Sa pahayag ng DFA, sinabi nito na nakatanggap sila ng impormasyon mula sa Philippine Embassy in Timor-Leste na kasalukuyang nasa Dili si Teves, na nagpasa ng aplikasyon para sa political asylum.
“Today, the Ministry of Interior of Timor-Leste confirmed that Representative Teves' application for political asylum has been denied,” saad ng DFA.
“In accordance with the decision of the Timor-Leste Government, Representative Teves has been granted a period of five (5) days to depart Timor-Leste. During this time, he also has the option to file an appeal regarding the decision,” dagdag nito.

Nitong lamang ding Martes ay kinumpirma naman ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na nasa lungsod nga ng Dili sa Timor Leste si Teves para humiling umano ng protection visa at special asylum status doon.
