SIMULA na ngayong araw ng Pasko, Disyembre 25 ang pagpapalabas ng official entries ng 46th Metro Manila Film Festival sa UPSTREAM.ph, ang video-on-demand platform na katuwang ng MMFF at Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Isang magandang regalo rin sa mga producers at sa mga manonood dahil walang censorship, walang first-day at last-day ang sampung pelikulang opisyal na kalahok sa MMFF 2020.

Sa naging paliwanag ni Direk Erik Matti, ang managing creative partner ng UPSTREAM.ph. sinabi nitong kung dati, ikinatatakot ng mga producer ang first day ay last day ng kanilang entries, hindi ito ngayon problema dahil sa bagong sistema.

“Noche Buena pa lang, pwede nang mapanood ang sampung entries sa 46th Metro Manila Film Festival,” pagbabahagi ni Direk Erik.

“Yung isang major na usapan namin with producers is sales report, kasi 24 hours, tuluy-tuloy ang sales. So, ginawan namin ng access ng producers. Every five minutes, they can look at the sales report, real time.

Hindi rin mapakikialaman ng MTRCB ang mga pelikula ngayong taon dahil hindi sakop ng ahensiya ang online streaming ng mga pelikula.

Gayunman, paglilinaw ni Direk Erik, “Pero we took it upon ourselves dito sa UPSTREAM, naisip lang namin na we don’t have any issues with any government agency, especially now that this is also a government project.”

“We took it upon ourselves to do self-regulatory tags on each titles.”

“So if you go to the website of UPSTREAM, you see the title, you look at the info of the title.”

Dagdag pa ng director, “We don’t rate it PG, R-13. I don’t think we have the right to do that.

“So, ang ginawa lang namin is 'slight drug use, partial nudity, extreme violence or expletives.

“Mga ganoon sa bawat movie, hoping that when you’re a viewer, you get the idea of who is it for.”

Paglilinaw pa niya. “Walang censorship ang online,” paglilinaw niya.mAng burden of responsibility to make sure that what we are showing is within the required standards set by the law, the burden falls on UPSTREAM.”

Kabilang sa mga pelikula ng MMFF ngayong taon ang: Magikland (fantasy adventure), Coming Home (family drama), The Missing (horror), Tagpuan (romance), Isa Pang Bahaghari (family drama), Suarez, the Healing Priest(biopic), Mang Kepweng, Ang Lihim ng Bandang Itim (comedy), Pakboys Takusa, (comedy), The Boy Foretold by the Stars (romantic comedy), at Fan Girl (drama).
