STARTING February 1, maaari nang mapanood ng mga Netflix users ang mga pelikula ng renowned Japanese animation house, ang Studio Ghibli.
Ayon Netflix, na makakatuwang ang film distribution company na Wild Bunch International, magiging available ang 21 Studio Ghibli films sa mga users nito sa Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa, at Latin America.
Sa isang pahayag na ini-release nitong Lunes, sinabi ng Netflix na lahat ng 21 film “[will be] subtitled in 28 languages, and dubbed in up to 20 languages.”
Inilarawan naman ni Aram Yacoubian, Director of Original Animation ng Netflix, na “dream come true” ang partnership ng streaming giant sa Studio Ghibli, para sa kumpanya at sa mga users.
“Studio Ghibli’s animated films are legendary and have enthralled fans around the world for over 35 years. We’re excited to make them available in more languages across Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia – so that more people can enjoy this whimsical and wonderful world of animation,” pahayag ni Yacoubian.
Naniniwala naman ang Wild Bunch International, Studio Ghibli’s film distributor, na Netflix can “promote the incredible and unique catalogue worldwide with respect to the Studio Ghibli philosophy.”
Habang para sa Studio Ghibli producer, Toshio Suzuki, umaasa siyang magiging daan ang film debut sa Netflix, upang makilala ng mundo ang “world of Studio Ghibli.”
“In this day and age, there are various great ways a film can reach audiences. We’ve listened to our fans and have made the definitive decision to stream our film catalogue,” ani Suzuki.
Sa Pebrero 1, ilalabas na ng Netflix ang mga anime movie na Castle in the Sky (1986), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989), Only Yesterday (1991), Porco Rosso (1992), Ocean Waves (1993), at Tales from Earthsea (2006).
Pagsapit naman ng March 1, 2020, magiging available na for streaming ang Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature, Spirited Away (2001) kasama ang mga pelikulang Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), Princess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999), The Cat Returns (2002), Arrietty (2010), The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013).
Habang ang huling set ng Ghibli films na Pom Poko (1994), Whisper of the Heart (1995), Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (2008), From Up on Poppy Hill (2011), The Wind Rises (2013), at When Marnie Was There (2014) ay ilalabas sa Abril 1.
