Asahan nang magiging maingay at mala-piyesta sa inyong lugar sa pagsisimula bukas ng kampanya para sa mga lokal na kandidato sa midterm polls.

Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Commission on Elections Spokesman James Jimenez na inaasahan nila na magiging maingay ang kampanya ng mga kandidato, 45 araw na lang bago ang May 13 midterm polls.

"But with the start of the campaign period, it will surely be more festive and it is about to get noisier. That’s a certainty," ani Jimenez.

Kung noon ay umaasa ang mga kandidatong maagang nangampanya sa mga posters at tarpaulins dahil mas mura, sinabi ni Jimenez na ngayon ay gagamit ang mga kandidato ng mga banda at sound system habang papalapit ang halalan.

"The bands and sound system are more expensive kinds so they will really withhold it until the actual campaign period... these have massive impact but has short retention," aniya.

At sa pagsisimula ng campaign period, hiniling ng Comelec sa mga kandidato na panatilihing malinis at payapa ang kampanya.

"We remind the candidates to please to keep the campaigns clean. Like literally clean because the tendency of local campaign is to leave trash behind whenever they would hold political rallies. So they would leave water bottles, styro packs and things like that. It adds an incredible load to the garbage already being dealt by the city," sambit ni Jimenez.

"I would like to remind candidates to also keep a close reign on their supporters. We all know local elections could be rowdy. They could be unruly so its important for supporters to be orderly sa kanilang pag-iikot sa mga daan-daan especially in the cities," dagdag niya.

Kasabay nito, kinumpirma ni Jimenez na nagsasagawa na ang Comelec ng case build-up laban sa mga national candidates na lumabag sa election laws.

“Certainly, building up of cases are going on all over the country, and yes, this is for national candidates,” sinabi ni Jimenez sa isang panayam sa telebisyon.

“It depends on whether we have secured the necessary evidence. And I believe we have,” aniya pa.
