Binigyang-diin kahapon ni House Deputy Speaker Gwendolyn Garcia na magtitipon ang Senado at Kamara sa Joint Session sa Hulyo 23, para sa State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte alinsunod sa itinatakda ng Konstitusyon.
Nilinaw ni Garcia ang bagay na ito nang tanungin tungkol sa banta ni Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri na magwo-walk ang mga senador sa joint session ng Kongreso kapag ginamit ng Super Majority ang SONA para gawing constituent assembly (Con-Ass) at aamyendahan sa Saligang Batas.
“Sa pagkaalam ko po, yung Joint Session is specifically for the State of the Nation Address. Kaya nga prior to the convening of this joint session, nagkakaroon ng parang Joint Resolution iyan, from the House of Representatives and then from the Senate, to convene in a Joint Session in order to listen to the SONA of the President,” ani Garcia.
“Traditionally po, we only convene in a joint session on that particular fourth Monday of July – nasa Constitution po yun – in order to listen to the President’s SONA po,” bigay-diin niya.
