NAPANATILI ng Ateneo Blue Eagles ang malinis na marka nang pabagsakin ang Adamson Falcons, 71-59, nitong Sabado sa UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball second round elimination sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Sa kabila ng presensiya ni Nigerian Papi Sarr, nagawang makaulit ng Ateneo sa Adamson na nadomina ng Blue Eagles sa first round 85-65.

Matibay na depensa ang inilatag ng Ateneo sa first half, sapat para malimitahan ang Adamson sa 24 puntos. Hindi tumigil ang Blue Eagles, sa pangunguna ni Thirdy Ravena para mahila ang bentahe sa pinakamalaking 21 puntos na bentahe, 71-50.

Tangan ng Ateneo ang 9-0 karta, habang laglag ang Falcons sa 4-4.

“It was a defensive game. Adamson is a very good defensive team also. The 23 points we had in the third quarter gave us the cushion we wanted to make sure that our defense would lead to opportunities for us on the break,” pahayag ni Ateneo coach Sandy Arespacochaga.

“We also focused on our perimeter defense. I would like to commend our guards for defending their guards,” aniya.

Nanguna si Ravena sa Ateneo sa natipang 15 puntos at siyam na boards, habang kumana sina Go at Vince Tolentino ng tig-walong puntos.
