Pinalakas pa ng pamahalaan ang communication network nito upang matiyak na tama ang mga impormasyong lalabas sa gitna ng pagpapatupad ng martial law sa Mindanao.
Ipinahayag ni Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar ang pagtatag ng “Mindanao Hour” communications center gayundin ang pagtatalaga ng isang sibilyang Maranao bilang tagapagsalita sa mga update ng gobyerno tungkol sa sitwasyon sa katimugan.
Pamununaun ni Andanar ang Davao-based communication center na magsisilbing “main source of accurate and reliable information on the declaration of martial law in Mindanao,” ayon sa PCOO. Ang communications center sa Iligan City ay pamumunuan ni Philippine Information Agency (PIA) director general Harold Clavite.
Ang Maranao spokesperson naman ay itatalaga upang ipabatid sa Lanao region ang mga huling balita sa nagpapatuloy na opensiba ng pamahalaan laban sa teroristang Maute Group sa Marawi City, sa “Maranao Hour Segment”ng PIA.

“No person has been appointed to the new post yet,” sabi ni Andanar. “In this time of crisis, it is strategically wise for us to expand our communications language from national to regional in order to avoid marginalizing those who are most affected by the declaration of Martial Law.”
Ayon sa PCOO, ang lahat ng naiprosesong impormasyon mula sa mga lugar ng bakbakan ay ipapaabot sa Davao communications center at sa Malacañang para sa regular press briefing sa Manila at Davao.
Binabalak ng gobyerno na magdaos ng araw-araw na press conference sa Davao center. Isasahimpapawid ito sa People’s Television (PTV) at iba pang istasyon ng pamahalaan. Magkakaroon din ng regular update sa mga social media account ng gobyerno.
Pinamunuan ni Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella ang soft launch ng “Mindanao Hour” sa press conference sa isang hotel sa Davao City nitong Biyernes.
