LA TRINIDAD, Benguet Province – Kapana-panabik na aksiyon ang nasaksihan ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez nang kanyang bisitahin ang ilang boxing match ng mga kabataang miyembro ng national team nitong Linggo.

Inorganisa ng Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) at municipal government, ang mga natatanging programa ay inilahad ni Mayor Romeo K. Salda sa final box-off ng mga boxers na nagnan ais na mapabilang sa national team para sa gaganaping King’s Cup sa Thailand sa April 3-9 sa Nangkok.

May kabuuang 11 laban, tampok ang pito na nagtatampok sa mga papasikat na amateur fighter.

“This is a great opportunity not only to see our national boxers but also to take a look at promising boxers.The Commission is committed to helping boxing all over the country. I have been making the rounds of different places in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao specifically to see the grassroots programs of different sports”, pahayag ni Ramirez sa kanyang mensahe.

Inamin ni Mayor Salda na malaki ang potensyal ng boxing sa international meet kung kaya’t marapat lamang na suportahan ang sports.

“And I plan to ask the Sanggunian to pass an ordinance that would energize boxing in La Trinidad,” aniya.

Iginiit ni Salda na gagawin nilang ‘centerpiece’ sa sports program ng lalawigan ng La Trinidad Strawberry Fields of the Philippines”.

Kabilang sa nagpamalas ng kahusayan sina 16 World Youth bronze medalist Carlo Paalam, 2015 SEA Games gold medalists Ian Clark Bautista, Mario Fernandez and Eumir Felix Marcial, China Open gold medalist James Palicte and SEA Games silver medalist Irish Magno.
