CAMP BANCASI, Butuan City – Kinondena kahapon ni Maj. Gen. Benjamin R. Madrigal, Jr., commanding general ng Northeastern at Northern Mindanao 4th Infantry Division (4th ID) ng Philippine Army, ang New People’s Army (NPA) sa aniya’y “barbaric, over kill” sa tatlong sundalo na makaraang iulat na nawawala ay natagpuang walang buhay sa Bukidnon.
Ayon kay Madrigal, hindi nakasuot ng uniporme ang tatlong sundalo na pinatay ng NPA matapos magtamo ng kabuuang 76 na tama ng bala ng iba’t ibang baril, batay sa report ng Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) ng Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Kinilala ang mga sundalo na sina Corporal Owen Yee, Private First Class (PFC) Pat Non, at PFC. Niño Christopher Talabor, pawang tauhan ng 8th Infantry Battalion.
Batay sa paunang imbestigasyon ng Malaybalay City Police na ipinaabot sa 4th ID, Pebrero 1 nang pinatay ang tatlong sundalo sa Sitio Kaleb, Barangay Kibalabag, matapos magtamo ng 24 na tama ng bala bawat isa.

“Is this what they (NPA) call achievement of just peace?” sabi ni Gen. Madrigal. “How can these NPA say that they also want peace if they still continue to kill with impunity, continue to burn construction and production equipment, and kill innocent people?”
Kasabay nito, nagmakaawa naman ang mga magulang ng dinukot na sundalong si PFC Erwin Salan, 28, ng 30th Infantry Battallion, sa Surigao del Norte, na ligtas na palayain ang kanilang anak.
‘WE WILL HIT THEM HARD’
Determinado naman si Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Año na pigilan ang mga rebelde sa patuloy na pagsasagawa ng mga krimen at pang-aabuso laban sa publiko, kasunod ng pagbawi ni Pangulong Duterte sa unilateral ceasefire na ipinaiiral ng gobyerno laban sa NPA.
“The last four days were disdainful and disturbing. While Fidel Agcaoilli was assuring the public thru media that the National Democratic Front (NDF) CPP-NPA will continue the unilateral ceasefire, communist rebels were attacking our soldiers who were doing community support and development works,” sabi ni Año.
Aniya, kabilang din sa mga epekto ng sunud-sunod na pag-atake ng NPA ang pagkamatay ng tatlong sundalo at ni Army 2nd Lt. Miguel Victor Alejo, bukod pa sa pagdukot kay Salan at sa dalawa pang sundalo.
