Sinampahan kahapon ng kasong kriminal sa Department of Justice (DoJ) si dating Department of Transportation and Communication (DoTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya at anim na iba pa dahil sa pagkakasangkot umano sa maanomalyang P3.8-bilyon license plate deal.
Kasama ang kanilang abogado, inihain ni dating Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT3) General Manager Al Vitangcol III, ng Citizens Crime Watch (CCW), at ng Liga ng Eksplosibong Pagbabago sa DoJ ang mga paglabag sa Sections 3 (b) at (e) ng Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices (RA 3019), at Section 7 (a) at (d) ng Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees (RA 6713).
