Muling inihain ni Sen. Antonio “Sonny” F. Trillanes IV kahapon ang panukalang batas na naglalayong itaas ang kasalukuyang pension rate sa Social Security System (SSS).
Sa ilalim ng Senate Bill No. 91 ni Trillanes, tatanggap ang lahat ng pensioner ng dagdag na P2,000 anuman ang effectivity ng kanilang retirement.
Ibinasura ni dating Pangulong Aquino ang panukalang ito bago ang huling araw ng 16th Congress noong Hunyo 30, 2016.
“It has been 19 years since the last SSS pension increase was implemented through Republic Act 8282. Since the law’s enactment and with the cost of living expenses having considerably increased over time, however, the meager amount of monthly pension of our SSS pensioners, who are old and mostly suffering from various medical conditions, has become inadequate to support their monthly food sustenance and maintenance medicines,’’ diin ni Trillanes.
