Pinagtibay ng Kamara ang House Bill 6152 na nagdedeklara sa Batanes bilang isang “responsible, community-based, cultural heritage and ecotourism zone”.

Inaasahang magiging ganap na itong batas matapos iendorso ng Senado ang pagpapatibay dito bago nag-adjourn ang Kongreso kamakailan.

Ang panukala, na inakda ni Deputy Speaker at Batanes Rep. Henedina R. Abad, ay ipinasa na ng Senate Committees on Environment and Natural Resources at Tourism, na pinamumunuan nina Senators Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero at Manuel “Lito” M. Lapid.
