Inihayag ng National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) na pag-aaralan daw nila ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang police traffic rules matapos maging usap-usapan ang pagkakadiin ng driver na nakasagasa sa estudyanteng tumalon mula sa estasyon ng LRT-1.

Sa pahayag ni NAPOLCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan nitong Biyernes, Pebrero 13, 2026, pinuna niya ang kasong muntikang isampa sa nasabing driver.

"We really need to review our police traffic procedures to avoid absurd results. How can there be 'Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide' if the ultimate fact is that the person fell from the sky?" ani Calinisan.

Dagdag pa niya, "The NAPOLCON and the PNP have already initiated a study of traffic procedures with the aim of implementing necessary reforms."

Ama ng estudyanteng tumalon sa LRT, 'di magsasampa ng kaso sa driver

Noong Pebrero 11 nang kumpirmahin ng pulisya na isinasaayos na nila ang pagsalang ng driver sa inquest procedure na nakaambang kasuhan ng Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide.

Matatandaang isang estudyanteng lalaki ang kinumpirma ng Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) na tumalon mula sa nasabing estasyon.

“Reports indicate that at approximately 10:30 AM, a male individual jumped off from the station platform to the street level of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA),” anila.

Samantala noong Pebrero 12 din nang makumpirmang hindi na raw magsasampa ng kaso ang ama ng biktima laban sa driver at agad siyang nai-release sa nasabing araw.

“The father executed a notarized letter manifesting that he is not pursuing a complaint against the driver," anang Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Saad pa nila, "Thereafter, the driver was released from the custody of Traffic Sector 6 at 4:10 PM today, February 12, 2026."

Nagpaabot din sila ng pakikiramay sa pamilya ng biktima, "The QCPD extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved family and assures the public of its commitment to conduct a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation."
