Nangako ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) na ipatupad ang inilabas na suspension order ng Office of the Ombudsman laban sa mga opisyal nito dahil sa umano'y pagkakasangkot sa overprice na mga laptop para sa guro ng pamahalaan noong 2021.
“The Department of Budget and Management, under the leadership of Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, assures the public of its utmost compliance with the decision set by the Office of the Ombudsman against former Procurement Service (PS) and DBM officials due to their alleged involvement in the purchase of reportedly overpriced laptops for the Department of Education (DepEd),” ayon sa pahayag ng DBM.
“Secretary Pangandaman has already directed concerned officials to implement the suspension order concerning former and present PS-DBM officials and employees," ayon sa ahensya.
Ang hakbang ng DBM ay kasunod ng inilabas na kautusan ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires na nagpapataw ng anim na buwang suspensyon sa mga opisyal nito dahil sa umano'y maanomalyang pagbili ng mga laptop na nagkakahalaga ng P2.4 bilyon.
Kabilang sa 12 na sinuspindi ng Ombudsman sina dating PS-DBM officers-in-charge Lloyd Christopher Lao at Jasonmer Uayan; at procurement management officers Ulysses Mora, Marwin Amil at Paul Armand Estrada.
