Ipinatutupad na ng gobyerno ang shellfish ban sa 10 lugar sa bansa dahil na rin sa red tide.
Sa abiso ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) nitong Miyerkules, kabilang sa mga naturang lugar ang coastal waters ng Milagros ng Masbate; coastal waters ng Panay, President Roxas, at Pilar sa Capiz; coastal waters ng Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol; Irong-irong Bay at San Pedro Bay sa Samar; Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur; at Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur.
"Shellfishes collected and tested from these areas are still positive for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) or toxic red tide that is beyond the regulatory limit," pagbibigay-diin ng BFAR.
Dahil dito, ipinagbabawal ng BFAR ang paghango at pagbebenta ng shellfish, kabilang na ang tahong, sa mga tinukoy na lugar.

"Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking," lahad pa ng BFAR.
