MATAPOS ang matagumpay na pagdaraos ng speed kicking competitions sa lokal at Southeast Asian levels, magsasagawa ang Philippine Taekwondo Association ng world class event na tinaguriang Global Taekwondo Online Speed Kicking Championships sa darating na weekend.

Ayon kay PTA secretary general Rocky Samson, sasabak sa tatlong araw na torneo ang mga national athletes at mga Olympic hopefuls na sina Samuel Morrison, Kurt Ryan Barbosa, Pauline Louise Lopez at Rio Olympic Games veteran Kirstie Elaine Allora.

Nasa ilalim ng sanction ng World Taekwondo Federation, ang torneo ay magtatampok sa may 1,000 taekwondo jins mula sa  23 bansa kabilang na ang Estados Unidos, Japan, Korea, Ethiophia, Mexico, Iran, Botswana at Guam.

Nagsanib ang PTA at ATF sa pagdaraos ng unang Asean taekwondo speed kicking competition dalawang linggo na ang nakakaraan na nilahukan ng Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand at Philippines.

“We hope our athletes will get positive results in this competition,” wika naman ni PTA vice president and chief executive officer Hong Sung Chon. “This event will also serve as the tune-up for them in preparation for the 2021 world taekwondo championships to be held in China and the Asian championships in Lebanon.”
