Isang Pilipinong imbentor ang nakadebelop ng produkto na nagpapakita ng malaking potensyal sa pagpigil sa large-scale dengue outbreak.
Ang MYKL Kiti-KitiX, dinebelop ni Lyle Christian Herbosa, ay sinasabing epektibo sa pagpatay sa mga lamok na nagdadala ng dengue ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), University of the Philippines, Los Baños – Center for Health Development (UPLB-CHD), at Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).
Ang produkto ni Herbosa ay
pinaghalong 60-90 percent calcium hydroxide at 5-40 percent clinoptilolite at ginamit laban sa mga lamok sa immature stages at epektibo rin sa pagkokontrol sa pag-usbong ng adult mosquitoes na nagdadala mga sakit.

“My product targets eliminating the early stages of the mosquito. This will terminate the life cycle of the mosquito therefore stopping any emerging adults from spreading dengue. Unlike my competitors, said repellent/killing agents only kill the mosquitos present in the area while my product prevents them from multiplying and spreading the disease,” sinabi ni Herbosa.
Sinabi ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) na ang produkto ni Herbosa ay pinapatay ang banta ng dengue outbreak sa earliest stage nito hindi tulad ng ibang produkto na tinatarget lamang ang adult mosquitoes at itinataboy sila palayo, kayat napipilitang magparami sa mga katabing lugar. Isa pang promising feature ng produkto ay ang shelf-life at ang effectiveness nitong patayin ang mga adult mosquitoes at kanilang itlog dahil sa kanyang long lasting effect mula sa panahon na una itong in-apply na kayang tumagal ng mula 11 hanggang 23 buwan.
“With this invention, dengue prevention can take another notch forward if adopted on a national scale in order to prevent dengue outbreaks in places where mosquito-breeding sites are found,” sinabi ng ahensiya.
Inihayag din nito na ang MYKL Kiti-kitiX project ay ang unang nakakuha ng DOST- Technology Application and Promotion Institute’s (DOST-TAPI) iTECH Lending Program katuwang ang Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). Ang programa ay nagbigay kay Herbosa ng P10.625 milyon para sa upscale commercialization ng kanyang produkto.
