Kumpiyansa ang Malacañang na hahakot ng positibong resulta at magiging ambag ng bansa sa global effort para mag-develop ng COVID-19 treatment ang paggamit ng convalescent blood plasma bilang isa sa “modes of therapy” nito.
Ito ang reaksyon ng Malacañang sa naging anunsyo ni Department of Science and Technology (DoST) Secretary Fortunato De la Peña sa pagsisimula ng government-funded study sa paggamit ng convalescent blood plasma.
Sa paliwanag ng DoST, ang paggamit ng convalescent plasma ay bilang karagdagang therapy para sa pasyente na na-ospital dahil sa COVID-19 at ito ay isinagawa ng University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital, na may funding support naman mula sa DoST.
“We note that the study is banking on the use of convalescent plasma taken from the blood of patients who have recovered from the infection, and therefore contains neutralizing antibodies against the virus,” pagdidiin ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
