Humakot ng limang medalya ang 21-anyos na si Miciano sa 20th Asean Age Group Chess Championships kamakailan sa Mandalay, Myanmar. Itinaguyod ng Go for Gold ang partisipasyon ng batang IM sa prestihiyosong torneo.

Nakamit ng reigning Asian youth champion ang silver medal sa standard event bago ginabayan ang Team Philippines sa blitz team event gold kasama sina Melito Ocsan Jr. at John Merill Jacutina.

Nakuha niya ang 7.5 puntos sa nine rounds event sa likod ng kampeon na si IM Anh Khoi Nguyen (8.5 pts). Naiuwi rin ni Miciano ang bronze sa individual blitz at team rapid kasama sina Ocsan at Jacutina.

“Marvin has done a great job. Despite his youth, he has accomplished a lot,” pahayag ni Go For Gold godfather Jeremy Go. “We hope that with our support, he can continue to go for gold.”

Bunsod ng sunod-sunod na tagumpay sa sports, tinanghal na Davao Male Athlete of the Year si Miciano sa So Kim Cheng Award ng Davao City Sports Council sa Hulyo 26.

“While it’s nice to win as many medals in international tournaments, my real objective is to earn a GM norm to boost my quest to become a grandmaster,” sambit ni Miciano, kumana rin ng silver medal sa team standard event.

Isa sa kapita-pitagang atleta na nasa pangangasiwa ng Go For Gold program si Miciano, nakamit ang national master title sae dad na 16 at Fide master sa sumunod na taon.

Naibigay ng World Chess Federation kay Miciano ang IM title matapos magwagi sa 2018 Asian Youth U-18 Chess Championships sa Thailand.

“There are a lot of tournaments out there where we can win gold medals, but with only few grandmasters participating. I need to participate in tournaments with more GMs for me to get that GM norm,” pahayaag ni Miciano.

Para makuha ang titulo, kinailangan niyang makuha ang tatlong GM norms at tumaas ang Fide rating sa 2500.

Bukod kay Miciano,suportado rin ng  Go For Gold ang kampanya at pagsasanay nina Asian Games skateboarder champion Margielyn Didal, Philippine dragonboat team mula sa Philippine Canoe-Kayak Dragonboat Federation at reigning Southeast Asian Games men’s triathlon champion Nikko Huelgas.

Suportado rin ng Go For Gold ang mga atleta sa cycling, wrestling, sepak takraw, the Philippine Air Force volleyball squad at dalawang kopoanan sa PBA D-League at San Juan Knights sa Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
