Buong taon na maa-avail ng mga estudyante ang 20 porsiyentong diskuwento sa pasahe, makaraan itong aprubahan ng Senado.

“This will be more significant to the beneficiaries belonging to the indigent and underprivileged sector that rely on public transport services,” ayon kay Senador Sonny Angara.

Aniya, sa pamamagitan nito ay araw-araw na ang diskwento ng mga estudyante, at hindi na kakailanganin pa ang approval ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Sa kasalukuyang umiiral na batas, hindi maaaring i-avail ng estudyante ang 20% na diskuwento sa pasahe sa mga araw na walang pasok, gaya ng Sabado, Linggo, at mga holidays.

Sinabi ni Angara na saklaw ng batas ang mga estudyante sa elementarya hanggang kolehiyo, sa lahat ng bus, jeepney, taxi, tricycle, transport network vehicle service (TNVS), MRT, LRT Lines 1 at 2, maging sa eroplano at barko.

“The discount for airfare will only be for domestic travel on regular fares, upon presentation of their duly issued school IDs or current validated enrollment forms. For those travelling abroad for purposes of education, training and competition, they will instead be exempted from paying travel tax provided that they could show proof or documentation supporting their claims,” paliwanag ni Angara.

Hindi naman saklaw ng diskuwento ang mga estudyante na kumukuha ng post-graduate studies, gaya ng medicine, law, master’s at doctorate degrees, at short-term courses.
