UPANG masigurong matutulungan ang lahat ng mga mag-aaral sa Marawi sa pagbubukas ng klase sa Hunyo 4, sinabi ni Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary na gagamit ang ahensiya sa clustering system sa rehiyon.

“We will do clustering. Some students will be brought to the adjacent schools,” pahayag ni Umali sa isang panayam nitong Huwebes.

“We were not able to rehabilitate all schools, especially those in ground zero. There’s no way they can be rebuilt from the same site or location. You need to find another location, so that means the 69 schools have been reduced to around 40,” ani Umali.

Ipinaalam din ni Umali na ipinag-utos na ng DepEd na libreng makalilipat ang mga mag-aaral mula Marawi sa kung saan mang paaralan nila gustuhin kung ayaw na nilang bumalik sa bayan.

“We should be lenient about the traditional transfer requirements and everything could be ‘to follow’, considering the tragedy that happened to them,” aniya.

Dagdag pa ni Umali, pagtutuunan din ng ahensiya ang mga mag-aaral mula sa Marawi upang masiguro na hindi sila magiging biktima ng bullying.

Tinatayang 30,000 mag-aaral mula Marawi ang naapektuhan ng limang buwan digmaan sa pagitan ng mga militar at pulisya, at ng grupo ng teroristang Maute noong nakaraang taon.

Bagamat walang tiyak na bilang, sinigurado ni Umali na mayroong sapat na guro na magsisilbi sa Marawi sa darating na Hunyo 4.

Sa naunang pahayag, sinabi ni Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones na, “We want the opening of this school year to be without difficulty for our learners and personnel, especially those from Marawi, who have endured so much in the past year. We want them to be able to enroll and attend the first day of classes with less concerns.”

Ayon kay Briones, ang mga apektadong mag-aaral at kawani ay dapat na “take a step from the shadow of the war and look forward to learning as their link to normalcy in the present and hope for the future.”
