KUMPIYANSA ang Pinoy golfer sa kanilang kampanya sa 17th World University Golf Championships na magsisimula bukas sa Pradera Golf and Country Club sa Lubao, Pampanga.
Limang Pinoy golfers – tatlong lalaki at dalawang babae – ang kakatawan sa Team Philippines sa kompetisyon na inorganisa ng Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), sa pakikipagtulungan ng Municipality ng Lubao, Pampanga.
Bahagi ang event ng FISU (Federation Internationale du Sports Universitaire) calendar para sa 2018.
Pangungunahan ni Jonas Christian Magcalayo ng Mapua ang kampanya ng men’s team.

Kabilang si Magcalayo sa koponan na sumabak sa Taipei Universiade golf competitions sa Taipei sa susunod na laro, kasama sina Jay Mathew Reyes ng Ateneo de Manila at United States-based Ivan Monsalve ng California Baptist University.
naitala ng 21-anyos ang three-round total na nine-over par 225 sa Sunrise Golf and Country Club sa Taoyuan, Taiwan.
Makakasama rin sa koponan sina Ruperto Zaragosa ng Lyceum of the Philippines at Lanz William Uy ng Technological University sa men’s division; gayundin ang Annika Victoria Guangko at Denize Angela Pineda ng De La Salle University-Manila sa women’s category.
“All the five (Filipino) players vowed to do their best. They want to perform well, especially since we are hosting the event,” pahayag ni FESSAP honorary president David Ong.
“Like when we hosted the World University Cycling Championships in Tagaytay City two years ago, FESSAP is doing everything to ensure the success of the competition,” aniya.
Pangungunahan ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Ramon Fernandez bilang kinatawan ni President Duterte sa opening ceremony sa Mayo 15.
