Nagsagawa muna ng inspection sina FIBA Central Board and Commission president Hamane Niang ng Mali, FIBA Central Board member and treasurer Ingo Weiss ng Germany at advisor to the FIBA secretary-general Lubomir Kotleba ng Slovak Republic sa mga posibleng maging venue ng liga tulad ng Philippine International Convention Center, Smart Araneta Coliseum, Mall of Asia Arena at Philippine Arena.

Kasama ng Pilipinas ang Japan at Indonesia para sa nasabing hosting kung saan tampok ang 32 bansa.

Ang magwawagi sa 2023 World Cup ay kwalipikado na sa 2024 Olympic Games sa Paris, France.
