Iginiit ni Senator Antonio Trillanes IV na malaki ang maitutulong ng National ID system sa pambansang seguridad dahil matutukoy at matitiktikan nito ang mga kahina-hinalang tao.
“Aside from promoting efficient delivery of public services by curbing the perennial problem of providing various identifications in transacting with the government, this national ID system could also help our anti-crime and anti-terror campaign,” sabi ni Trillanes. “By having a centralized database, we would have easy access to information about suspects, fugitives and other lawless elements.”
Ito ay makaraang pumasa na ang National Identification Bill sa deliberasyon ng komite sa Kamara.
Ang National ID system ang magsisilbing opisyal na pagkakakilanlan ng lahat ng transaksiyon sa pamahalaan.

Alinsunod sa Senate Bill No. 95, makukuha ang ID sa tanggapan ng Local Civil Registrar ng mga siyudad o munisipyo, habang sa embahada o sa consular office naman para sa mga Pinoy sa ibang bansa, sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
“By having a single database of the identification of Filipinos, this measure could also reduce leakage in providing social services to the people, such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program bureaucracy and in simplifying the process relative to public and private services,” dagdag pa ni Trilanes. - Leonel M.
