“I love Rolex watches, but…”
Ito ang bahagi ng Facebook post ni Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol nang inilahad niya ang pagsasauli sa natanggap niyang Rolex watch na nagkakahalaga ng P450,000.
Aniya, ang regalo ay natanggap niya sa dinaluhang dinner ng mga opisyal ng isang malaking agricultural company.

“The one I received recently was just stuffed in a bag along with the other mementos which I usually receive during ceremonial exchange of gifts. It was not until I was on my farm in Kidapawan City when I decided to open the box and I almost fell off my seat when I saw what was inside the box. It was a Rolex submariner, a watch which almost every man dreams of owning,” saad sa post ng kalihim na nag-trending kahapon sa social media.
Inilahad ni Piñol na bago nag-umpisa ang kanyang political career noong 1995 ay minsan na siyang nakatanggap ng kaparehong relo mula sa isang kaibigan. Aniya, bihira lang niyang isinusuot ang nasabing relo dahil hindi siya mahilig magsuot ng mamahaling gamit.
“I explained that I could not take the gift because not only because the company is involved in activities which would require the supervision of the Department (of Agriculture), which I head, but also because the law prohibits officials like me from accepting expensive gifts,” ani Piñol.
