Umapela ang mga opisyal ng Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) sa mga pasaherong uuwi sa mga lalawigan upang doon gunitain ang Undas, na magsakripisyo ng kaunti at isumite ang kanilang sarili sa ipinatutupad na security procedures sa mga daungan upang matiyak ang kanilang kaligtasan.

Ayon kay PPA Police Division Commander Dan Alano, hindi dapat isipin ng mga pasahero na abala ang ipinatutupad na security procedures ng port authorities.

Paliwanag niya, ito’y kaunting sakripisyo lamang upang matiyak ang kaligtasan sa mga daungan at maiwasan ang anumang hindi magandang pangyayari.

“Some people may feel that the passengers are subjected to unpleasant security procedures being implemented by port authorities, but this is a small price to pay to ensure a safer port because the threat of terror attacks is real, so please bear with us,” paliwanag ni Alano.

PCG kumikilos

Sa paghihigpit ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa seguridad sa lahat ng ports at terminals, sinabi ni PCG commandant Rear Admiral William Melad na, “we will make sure that your Coast Guard is working in compliance with the DoTr (Department of Transportation) Oplan Ligtas Undas 2016.”

Bukod sa mahigpit na inspeksyon, nakakalat din ang mga elemento ng PCG para agad makaresponde sa panahon ng maritime distress o emergencies.

AFP handa na rin

Inatasan na rin ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, General Ricardo R Visaya ang lahat ng military units na paigtingin ang kanilang intelligence monitoring, bilang suporta sa Philippine National Police (PNP).

Ang direktiba ni Visaya ay inisyu nitong Lunes sa Unified Commands, Joint Task Force NCR (JTF-NCR), at Major Service Commanders.

Inatasan ang mga ito na makipag-ugnayan sa PNP sa pamamagitan ng Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (JPSCC), upang itaob ang anumang banta sa panahon ng Undas.

“Vigilance and profiling of threat groups will be an edge of our security forces. Criminal and terrorist groups may take advantage of the gathering of people in bus terminals, air and sea ports. We will keep an eye on other places of convergence like cemeteries especially during this long weekend,” ayon kay Visaya.
