Itinalaga ni Pope Francis si Bishop Martin Jumoad bilang bagong arsobispo ng Archdiocese of Ozamis, na sakop ang mga diocese ng Dipolog, Iligan, Pagadian, at Marawi.
Papalitan ni Jumoad, magsisilbi bilang pang-apat na arsobipo ng Archdiocese of Ozamis, ang 77-anyos na si Archbishop Jesus Dosado, na nagretiro na sa pwesto at tinanggap naman na ng Papa. Ang mandatory retirement age para sa mga obispo ay 70-taon.
Bago ang kanyang appointment, ang 59-anyos na prelate ay nagsilbi ng 14 taon bilang obispo ng Prelature of Isabela sa Basilan. Siya ay miyembro rin ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines–Episcopal Commission on the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People and the Commission on Mission.
“I leave Basilan with a heavy heart because I know the people and they love me. I will go to Ozamiz with faith and hope that the Lord will never abandon me and He will show me what to do. Please pray for me,” sabi ni Jumoad sa CBCP News. (Mary Ann Santiago)
