Inaresto ng mga operatiba ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) ang isang babaeng mataas na opisyal ng New People’s Army (NPA) sa follow-up operation sa Cebu City, iniulat ng pulisya kahapon.
Arestado si Amelia Pond sa Barangay Luz, Cebu City sa mismong araw na pansamantalang pinalaya ang mag-asawang Benito at Wilma Tiamzon, kapwa pinakamatataas na opisyal ng Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA, mula sa pagkakapiit sa Camp Crame sa Quezon City nitong Biyernes.
Sinabi ni Chief Supt. Roel Obusan, CIDG director, na nadakip si Pond matapos makumpirma ang intelligence reports na nakatira ito sa ebu.
“There is an existing arrest warrant for her, for cases of murder and frustrated murder, and it was the one used to arrest her,” ani Obusan.

Si Pond, na gumagamit ng alyas na Adelfa Toledo, ay miyembro ng Executive Committee ng Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SRMC), Komisyong Mindanao ng NPA. (Aaron Recuenco)
