LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Napili ng International Olympic Committee (IOC) ang 10 refugee athlete mula sa Africa at Middle East para sumabak sa Rio Olympics sa ilalim ng IOC flag bilang “Refegee Team”.
Ayon sa IOC, ang koponan ang magiging simbolo na pag-asa para sa migrante at refugee sa buong mundo.
Kabilang sa refugee team ang mga atleta mula sa South Sudan, Syria, Congo at Ethiopia na sasabak sa track and field, swimming at judo.
Gaganapin ang Olympics sa Agosto 5-21.

"We're convinced this refugee Olympic team can send a symbol of hope to all refugees in the world," pahayag ni IOC president Thomas Bach. "It is also a signal to the international community that refugees are our fellow human beings and are an enrichment to society."
Pangangasiwaan ang koponan ni Tegla Loroupe ng Kenya, dating women's marathon world record-holder.
"These refugees have no home, no team, no flag, no national anthem," sambit ni Bach.
