Binatikos ni Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales ang mga pulitiko na dumadaing ng political harassment kapag kinakasuhan ng katiwalian.
Aniya, ito ang nagsisilbing “standard public relations defense” ng mga opisyal ng gobyerno na sinampahan ng graft at pandarambong ng anti-graft agency.
“This will not stand in court, and the public is not gullible to believe their claim,” paliwanag ni Morales.
Pinanindigan din ni Morales na patas ang Office of the Ombudsman sa pagsasampa ng mga kaso, na pawang ibinatay lang sa mga ebidensiya.

“We decide only on the basis of evidence. After careful and objective evaluation of the evidence gathered, we immediately file cases, if warranted. We are oblivious of the timing of the filing of cases in courts, just as corrupt public officials steal public money every time an opportunity comes,” sabi ni Morales.
Aniya, hindi ang mga pulitiko ang naha-harass kundi ang mga taxpayer dahil ninanakaw ng mga tiwali sa gobyerno ang buwis na mapakikinabangan sana sa pagbibigay ng mga serbisyo para sa pinakamahihirap sa bansa.
“Stop giving the public the impression that you are being politically persecuted. It is the other way around. Every peso lost to corruption means less free medicines for indigent patients in government hospitals and health centers, less textbooks and classrooms in public schools, and less food packs for victims of natural disasters,” pagdidiin ni Morales.
