Dumistansiya ang United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), na pinamumunuan ni Vice President Jejomar Binay, sa disqualification case laban kay Senator Grace Poe matapos akusahan ng kampo ng huli na ang UNA at ang Liberal Party ang may pakana upang madiskaril ang kandidatura ng senador sa 2016 presidential race.
“UNA is not in any position (or) is...inclined to influence the deliberations, decisions and rulings of constitutionally-mandated institutions,” saad sa pahayag ni Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan, vice presidential candidate ng UNA.
“The UNA Party adopts this position from our continuing painful and unwarranted experience in malicious prosecution which we accept as a matter of partisan political reality on the eve of the coming May 2016 Elections,” dagdag ni Honasan.
Ang 47-anyos na si Poe ay nahaharap sa apat na disqualification case sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) at isa rito ay pinaboran ng Second Division ng poll body.

“UNA, as a matter of principle and as the party of the accredited political opposition, upholds and respects due process and the rule of law,” pahayag ni Honasan.
Samantala, iginiit ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na may hurisdiksyon ang ahensiya upang hawakan ang mga disqualification case, gaya ng kinakaharap ngayon ni Poe.
Ang pahayag ay ginawa ni Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista kasunod ng napaulat na pahayag ng election lawyer, si dating Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr., na tanging ang Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) lamang ang may hurisdiksiyon sa disqualification cases.
