Nanawagan ang isang mambabatas mula sa Valenzuela City na repasuhin ang disciplinary system na ipinatutupad sa Philippine National Police (PNP) bunsod ng dumaraming pulis na nasasangkot sa krimen.

“There is now a dangerous trend of cops gone bad and who profit from their crimes when they have sworn to uphold the rule of law and to protect citizens from harm. Instead they are the ones who threaten the safety of the public,” pahayag ni Valenzuela City 1st District Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian.

Sa kanyang House Resolution No. 1507, sinabi ni Gatchalian na nagmimistulang kulang ang ngipin ng PNP Internal Affairs Service at National Police Commission (Napolcom) sa pagdidisiplina sa mga bugok na pulis.

Iginiit ni Gatchalian, vice chairman ng Metro Manila Development, House and Urban Development and Tourism, na dapat palakasin ang sistema ng pagdidisiplina sa hanay ng pulisya upang maibalik ang tiwala ng publiko sa institusyon.

“An investigation must be made to find means that will enhance the disciplinary body and the process of investigation as well as the reprimand of erring policemen in the PNP in order to enact, review or amend legislation that will restore and preserve the integrity of the Philippine National Police,” ayon sa kongresista.

Aniya, lalong nalusaw ang kumpiyansa ng mga mamamayan sa PNP matapos masangkot ang ilang pulis sa “hulidap” (hinuli at matapos ay hinoldap) na nambiktima kamakailan sa isang negosyante sa EDSA.

Isang pulis din ang itinurong triggerman sa pagpatay sa international racing champion na si Enzo Pastor noong Hunyo. Bago pa ang insidente ng pamamaslang, nasangkot din ang naturang pulis sa ilegal na droga.
