Inihayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., ang rason ng pagtanggap niya sa resignation ni dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Sec. Manuel Bonoan.

Sa panayam ng media sa Pangulo nitong Lunes, Setyembre 1, 2025, iginiit niyang nasa ilalim umano ng "command responsibility" ang pagtanggap niya sa pagbibitiw ni Bonoan.

"I think it was Secretary Bonoan who said that basically he took responsibility, all of these things happened, all of these problems, under his watch so under the principle of command responsibility that he should leave his post," ani Marcos.

Matatandanag noong Linggo, Agosto 31, nang kumpirmahin ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Sec. Dave Gomez, ang nasabing desisyon ni PBBM. Kaugnay nito, itinalaga naman ng Pangulo si Transport Secretary Vince Dizon upang saluhin ang binakanteng posisyon ni Bonoan.

“Secretary Dizon has been tasked to conduct a full organizational sweep of the Department and ensure that public funds are used solely for infrastructure that truly protects and benefits the Filipino people,” saad sa pahayag.
