Itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. si law professor Ernesto Maceda, Jr. bilang commissioner ng Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Kinumpirma ni Comelec chairman George Garcia na natanggap na nila ang appointment papers ni Maceda nitong Huwebes.

Magsisilbing commissioner si Maceda, Jr. hanggang Pebrero 2, 2029.

Si Maceda ay ipinuwesto sa dating posisyon ni Garcia bilang commissioner.

"I am humbled to be entrusted with the crucial duties and responsibilities of the Office of the Commissioner. The first principle of democracy is that sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them," pahayag ni Maceda.

"As guardian of the sovereign will, the Commission on Elections fulfills this task by ensuring that the electoral process is free, fair, credible and honest, orderly and peaceful, informed and meaningful," sabi pa nito.

Bago maitalaga sa puwesto, si Maceda ay nagtuturo sa Ateneo Law School.
