Sinabi ng Department of Health (DOH) na kasalukuyang tinutuklasan nito ang mga paraan upang makakuha ng mga kinakailangang bakuna laban sa monkeypox.
Ang pagbabakuna sa monkeypox ay hindi pa kasama sa national immunization program ng bansa, sinabi ng DOH.
“Although there is a monkeypox vaccine developed already, according to WHO (World Health Organization) this is not yet widely available,” anang DOH sa isang pahayag, Biyernes.
“The DOH is exploring all possible available sources and expedient legal methods for the procurement of monkeypox vaccines,” dagdag nito

.Gayunpaman, binanggit ng DOH na ang posibleng pagbabakuna ng monkeypox ay sumasailalim pa rin sa pagsusuri ng mga hwalth expert.
“As part of the mandate of DOH to provide safety through the delivery of public health services, consultations and review must be done with expert societies and development partners in terms of vaccination, and priority population groups,” sabi nito.
Ang infectious disease expert na si Dr. Edsel Salvana kamakailan ay tiniyak sa publiko na ang Pilipinas ay maaaring makakuha ng mga bakuna para sa monkeypox dahil mayroon itong "mga ugnayan" sa iba't ibang internasyonal na ahensya.
Sa ngayon, walang naiulat na kaso ng monkeypox sa bansa.
Sa kasalukuyan, sinabi ng health state agency na naghahanda din ito ng iba pang “supply chains and logistics services.”
“There are ongoing internal discussions, based on scientific evidence, for the possible acquisition of antivirals in the event of an outbreak or severe cases,” sabi nito.
Nakikipag-ugnayan din ang DOH sa Research Institute for Tropical Medicine at Philippine Genome Center sa “laboratory requirements na kailangan para sa monitoring at surveillance ng monkeypox sa pamamagitan ng RT-PCR.”
