Nanawagan ngayong Martes si Opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros sa mga kapwa senador na magtakda ng "endgame" sa labor contractualization policy ng bansa.

"Kailangan nang wakasan ang labor contractualization. Panahon na para ipasa ang Security of Tenure Bill. Kung sa Avengers ay may "endgame," dapat bigyan na rin natin ng "endgame" ang ENDO," ani Hontiveros.

"It's time that the government avenge the Filipino workers for this unjust and inhumane labor policy," dagdag niya.

Sinabi ni Hontiveros, na kasalukuyang chairperson ng Senate Committee on Women, na ang panukalang Security of Tenure Bill ay poprotekta sa mga manggagawa mula sa mapagsamantalang kontrata.

Sinabi rin niya na makatutulong ang panukala na matuldukan ang gender gap sa labor sector.

"Filipino women have a lower labor participation rate compared to men, and those fortunate enough to be employed are more exposed to vulnerable employment like contractual jobs. Mas mahirap makakuha ng trabaho ang kababaihan. Kung makahanap man ng pagkakakitaan, kadalasan, ito ay mga trabahong kontraktuwal," wika ni Hontiveros.

Ayon pa kay Hontiveros, na siya ring vice-chairperson ng Senate Committee on Health, "Contractual workers are more vulnerable to health risks than regular workers as contractualization is a scheme meant to avoid paying workers the social and health benefits that regular employees are entitled to. Thus, contractual workers are forced to endure precarious working conditions and pay for their own health expenses when they get sick or injured at work."

Samantala, inaasahang aaprubahan ng Senado ang naturang panukala bago matapos ang 17th Congress.

Sinabi ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III na inaasahan nila ang pagpasa sa Senate Bill No. 1826, o ang Security of Tenure Law, sa oras na magpatuloy ang sesyon sa Mayo 20.

"Yes, it's (approval in Senate) possible," sinabi ni Sotto sa BALITA.
