MAPAPALABAN ang mga Pinoy golfer sa matitikas na karibal sa mundo sa pagpalo ng 17th World University Golf Championship (WUGC) sa Martes sa Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club sa Lubao, Pampanga.
Kakatawanin ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Ramon Fernandez ang Pangulong Duterte na naimbitahan sa opening ceremony ng torneo na inorganisa ng Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP).
Magsisimula ang kompetisyon sa Mayo 16.
Kabuuang 21 bansa, kabilang ang host Philippines, sa magtutunggali sa torneo na sanctioned ng FISU (Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire)
Kabilang sa mga kalahok ang Argentina, Australia, China, Czech, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Nepal, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland, Chinese-Taipei, at United States.
Makakasama ni Fernandez sa seremonya sina WUGC organizing committee chairman /honorary president David Ong, WUGC OC chief executive officer Mike Singgaran, FESSAP chairman Alvin Tai Lian, FESSAP president Baldomero Estenzo, Philippine team head of delegation Angel Ngu at FESSAP executive Danilo Madlansacay.
Panauhin din sina Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda at Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, gayundin si Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) head Cesar Montano.
“We’re happy to welcome some of the best university golfers from all over the world. The WUGC will give our province a well-deserved international sports exposure and help promote tourism in our country,” sambit ni Mayor Pineda-Cayabyab.
“We look forward togiving these student-athletes and team officials a taste of Filipino hospitality during their stay in Pampanga,” aniya.
Imbitado rin ang mga miyembro ng Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (FFCCCII), at FESSAP Institution-affiliate para sa apat na araw ng torneo.
Ang iba pang opisyal ng WUGC OC ay sina Marius Aseron, Emmanuel Edward Co, Benito Techico, and Rolando M. Romero, FESSAP executive vice president Prof.Robert Milton Calo and Dr. Diosdado Amante, Joseph Sy, finance officer Annie Rodas, comptroller Raquel Padilla Lim at executive secretary Cecille Sarmiento.
