Inaasahang makikipagpulong si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kay Chinese President Xi Jinping para lalong mapaganda ang bilateral relations sa sidelines ng regional summit sa Hainan, China sa susunod na lingo.
Kabilang sa mga pag-uusapan ng dalawang lider ang bilateral cooperation sa paglaban sa terorismo at illegal drugs, ayon kay Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Manuel Antonio Teehankee.
Bibiyahe si Duterte sa Hainan, China para dumalo sa Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), itinuturing ng China na katumbas ng World Economic Forum sa Switzerland, sa Abril 10, at sunod na tutungo sa Hong Kong sa Abril 11 para sa working visit. Ito na ang ikatlo niyang pagbisita sa China simula nang maupo sa puwesto noong 2016.

“On April 10, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with the Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss ways to further enhance the bilateral relationship between the Philippines and China,” inihayaga ni Teehankee sa press briefing sa Palasyo.
“The two leaders will also discuss ways to collaborate on jointly addressing pressing issues as well as common threats such as violent extremism and terrorism and cross-border traffic of illegal narcotics,” dugtong niya.
Posible ring mapag-usapan nila ang iringan sa South China Sea at babanggitin ni Duterte kay Xi ang panukalang joint exploration.
Samantala, inaasahang ibabahagi ng Panguo ang kanyang vision para sa paglago ng ekonomiya ng Pilipinas sa pagtatalumpati niya sa BFA opening plenary sa Abril 10.
“The President sees the goals of the forum as parallel and complementary to his own vision of a developed Philippines and a more prosperous Filipino nation as well as a more prosperous ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) economic region,” ani Teehankee.
Sinabi niya na layunin ng Pangulo na mabawasan ang antas ng kahirapan mula 21 porsiyento sa 14% pagsapit ng 2022 at umaasang tuluyan itong mabura pagsapit ng 2040.
“This is a common theme of the President whether it is in ASEAN, APEC, the World Economic Forum or the BFA, which is inclusive growth for all and that is the challenge and the great dream that the Philippines has for Asia and for itself,” ani Teehankee.
Inaasahang babalik si Duterte sa bansa sa Abril 12.
Bukod kay Duterte, dadalo rin sa economic forum ang mga lider mula sa Austria, Mongolia, Pakistan, Singapore, Netherlands, United Nations, at International Monetary Fund.
Kaugnay nito, pinayagan ng Sandiganbayan Sixth Division ang tatlong akusado sa iba’t ibang kaso na sumama sa delegayson ni Pangulong Duterte sa China at Hong Kong simula Abril 9 hanggang 13.
Sina Davao Del Norte Rep. Antonio “Tonyboy” Floirendo Jr., Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Favis Villafuerte, Jr. at dating Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary at incumbent Bohol 3rd Dist. Rep. Arthur Yap ay pawang pinayagan ng anti-graft court na sumama sa biyahe ni Duterte, basta’t tumalima ang mga ito sa rules and regulations ng korte.
