Inaasahan ni Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II na maghahain ang state lawyers sa regional trial court (RTC) ngayong linggo ng petisyon na humihiling na ideklarang mga terorista ang Communist Party of the Philippines (CCP) at ang armadong sangay nito na New People’s Army (NPA).

“Kasi we have to prepare very carefully the petition,” paliwanag ni Aguirre dahil sa halos isang buwan nang ang lumipas simula nang ideklara ni President Rodrigo Duterte ang CPP-NPA bilang terorista.

Noong Disyembre 6, naglabas ang Kalihim ng Department Order (DO) No. 779 na inaatasan ang Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) “to file the necessary application or petition organization with the appropriate court for the proscription or declaration of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army as a terrorist organization pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 9372, otherwise known as the ‘Human Security Act of 2007’.”
