SUPORTADO ng Philippine Racing Commission (Philracom), gayundin ng lahat nang horse-racing club sa bansa ang malawakang programa ng Games and Amusements Board (GAB)para masawata ang illegal bookies sa horse-racing, sabong at iba pang sports na isinasailalim sa on-line betting.
Sa pakikipagpulong ng Philracom sa GAB, sa pangangasiwa Chairman Abraham Kahlil B. Mitra at apat na Commissioners, sinabi ni Philracom Commissioner Andrew A. Sanchez na ang pagdami ng illegal bookies ay nakasisira sa sports, gayundin sa mga legit na mamumuhunan.
Sa pakikipagtulungan ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), nagawang maipasara ng GAB ang tatlong ilegal na OTB (Off-Track Betting) na nagresulta sa pagkakadakip ng 17 katao na direktang mga kinalaman sa illegal bookies.
“Illegal bookies eat up revenues that could have gone to the national coffers, so the arrest of these illegal operators will send a message that the stakeholders mean business in this fight,” sambit ni Mitra.
Dumalo rin sa pagpupulong sina Philracom commissioners Lyndon Noel B. Guce, Atty. Wilfredo J.A. De Ungria at Bienvenido C. Niles, Jr.,gayundin si Executive Director Dr. Andrew Rovie M. Buencamino.
Kumatawan naman sa horseowners club sina Antonio V. Tan Jr., Metropolitan Association of Race Horse Owners Director; Emmanuel A. Santos, Philippine Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Organization President; and Ferdinand D. Dimaisip, former Klub Don Juan de Manila President.
Gayundin sina Chairman Mitra, Atty. Ermar U. Benitez (Chief, Legal Division), Eduard B. Trinidad (Commissioner), Matthew P. Gaston (Commissioner) at Estela O. Nimedez (Chief Sports and Games Regulation Officer).
